A Little History of Nicaragua…..

Nicaragua is the largest country in Central America. Central America is the southernmost area of the North American continent that connects with South America. The official currency of Nicaragua is Cordoba and is subdivided into Centavos. This 1 Centavo bill is no longer issued and was replaced in 1994 by coins. In 1991, the UNO (United Nicaraguan Opposition) took control of Nicaragua. The UNO was formed in the 1980s as a rebel umbrella group led by a triumvirate. The UNO cut off spending on social programs on health and education which greatly impacted social improvements in Nicaragua during this time. Here is a link to the timeline to Nicaragua’s history in the 19th and 20th century.
