A Little History of Iraq….

In the year of 1973, the Middle Eastern region was overwhelmed by the Yom Kippur War. This war did not only involve the major players of Egypt, Israel, and Syria but also other Middle Eastern countries including Iraq.  The war erupted on the Day of Atonement, a holy day of praying and fasting according to Jewish community. The sudden and unexpected attack from Arab nations shocked Israel. Iraq had already transferred  jet fighters planes to Egypt months before the war erupted. Iraq involvement in the war by supplying 18,000 Iraqi soldiers and MIG fighters to fight against the Israelis was mostly taken place on the Golan Heights. Here is where to look into for more of the history on the Yom Kippur War.

From what I know, this currency bill is no longer in use in Iraq. The lowest current denomination is 50 dinars. I am also not so sure about this currency bill if it is in the year of 1973, it seems to me it might be an Iraqi Swiss Dinar bill which was in circulation prior to the 1990 Gulf War. However, the bill has been ceased to be legal tender. The currency bill features very distinct and sharp colors, definitely unique.
